My language-learning journey began with my dream of working as a Chef in a Michelin-starred kitchen in France. When I first moved to France, my French went as far as the basic “bonjour” and “merci”. I had a hard time communicating basic needs.

Today, I can read, write, and speak in French at a B1/B2 level, and that is honestly because I was consistent. Consistency is key! I focused on grammar and conversational skills I learned through Lingoda courses. Through my growth in basic French conversation, I was able to immerse myself in the culture and language fully.

French did not come easily to me, and honestly, I still have so much more to learn. Like in the kitchen, to grow, you must put in the work and be consistent. Today I live in the south of France and work in a Michelin-starred kitchen, where I speak French a lot. If you can stay consistent and focused, you too can reach your language goals.

I started learning French with the Lingoda Sprint, which I won, and instead of taking the 50% cashback, I chose to get more classes so I could keep learning. Thanks to those extra hours, I reached a B1/B2 level and won an Erasmus scholarship for six months in Fontainebleau, France. After the Erasmus, I achieved the DALF C1 certificate, consolidating my progress.

I’m now learning German with Lingoda. My goal is to reach a B1/B2 level and then move to Germany to study. I’m currently at B1 and working to consolidate it. Thanks to my progress, I was able to skip the German 1 exam at university and move directly to German 2.

So far, it’s been an intense journey, but I now feel confident about what comes next. Over time, I learned that changing my mindset made a huge difference. Once I stopped seeing languages as an obligation and started enjoying the learning process, my progress became faster and more effective. I’m studying German with the same enthusiasm, and I’m motivated to keep going and enjoy the journey.

When looking for a language course to learn German, I felt very overwhelmed because I didn’t have time to attend a school. When I discovered Lingoda, it solved all of my worries. It is so easy to schedule a class at a time that works perfectly with my schedule, and the class design was exactly what I needed to fully comprehend what I was learning.

I moved to Germany a year ago to be with my German Fiancé and I could hardly speak the language when I first arrived. Through my Lingoda classes, I learned the fundamentals of German and passed my A1 exam in just a year. I am now well on my way to earning my A2 certificate as well. I now feel confident going to the local stores and speaking German with the cashiers and store owners.

The classes are fun and easy to follow. Every teacher I have had has been so kind and encouraging. The classes are designed to encourage speaking so that you get comfortable with practicing. And the teachers do a great job calmly correcting any grammar mistakes as you practice and learn.

The classes helped me a lot with a sense of community. When I first moved to Germany, I couldn’t speak to any locals, which made me feel a bit isolated. But through my classes, I was able to speak with other students at my level, building a sense of togetherness.

I moved to France when I was 37 because my husband is French and I wanted to get to know his family and friends. Because I’d studied Spanish and Italian, I thought learning French would be a breeze but it’s actually been much harder for me than either of those languages. And because I’ve worked full-time since we’ve been here and we have a young child, I can’t take the classes that are offered at nearby schools and municipal centers. They are often ten or more hours a week or at night.

So for years, I’ve been slowly learning French by watching movies, talking to my in-laws, studying textbooks, and working with a tutor. My French is now a solid B1 but I have huge gaps in pronunciation and grammar. When I discovered Lingoda last year, I was so happy. I can finally practice listening, speaking, vocabulary, grammar, and reading all at the same time while learning about topics that are very helpful for living in France. I’ve already taken 70 classes and I plan to work my way through the next several levels as I prepare for French citizenship.

I’ve been learning with Lingoda for over three years, and it has genuinely changed my life.

What first drew me in was the structure. The classes strike a perfect balance – some are deeply practical, and others are wonderfully whimsical and fun. I also love being able to preview the material in my own time before each class, so I can show up ready to engage.

My focus has been on Spanish, and the reason is personal. I’ve moved to a Spanish-speaking country, and my family is Spanish-speaking. I’m not just learning a language – I’m building relationships. With my family. With my community. And with the people I work with. As a model, I collaborate with designers and photographers, walk in fashion shows, and network with industry professionals. Being able to communicate with them in Spanish has opened up a whole new level of connection and professionalism in my work.

Connection and communication are what fill my cup, and for a long time, not being able to express myself the way I truly wanted to was genuinely frustrating. I felt lost and lonely. I depended on others for the simplest things and had no real independence.

Lingoda has been part of changing that. The teachers are wonderful, and every class is an opportunity to train my ear, getting comfortable with different accents, different rhythms. And there’s something quietly special about learning alongside other students from all over the world, each with their own goals and dreams. Lingoda flexes to fit my life, not the other way around.

From dinner-table conversations with my family to collaborating with designers and crew backstage, Lingoda has given me a voice in every room I walk into.

My language-learning journey started when I was a little girl, watching foreign movies on TV, which got me interested in learning Spanish. Then, around age 14, my obsession with a singer made me want to learn English so I could understand her lyrics. And I ended up learning that once you pick up your third language, you don’t really want to stop.

So, I’m now learning French, German, and Italian at the same time!

And why and how am I learning all of this? Well, I moved to Paris a year ago. And I think the minimum respect I can show the country, its people, and its language is to learn it. So that’s what I’m doing. With daily interactions and tons of mistakes, I’m learning something new every day.

I also want to move to Austria after this, and I don’t want to be another person moving somewhere without speaking the language. I want to take it seriously, and I don’t want the language to be an obstacle at first, so I’m learning it before I move. It’s hard to do when I’m living in a French-speaking country, working an English-speaking job, and connecting with my Portuguese-speaking friends, but luckily, I have Lingoda to help. And it’s working wonderfully.

Lastly, I’m learning Italian because I am getting Italian citizenship. Again, it’s the least I can do for the country I will now be able to call my own. I want to be able to integrate as well as people who have always lived there. Of course, I will never be able to, but I don’t want a vocabulary limited to “mamma Mia” to be the reason I don’t.

I really enjoyed the lessons and they helped me tremendously to improve my language skills. The teachers were simply fantastic, and the group I studied with was great too.

Furthermore, the program was very comprehensive and enriching. I’m convinced that your program alone is perfectly sufficient to prepare optimally for the exam.

Through your classes, I learned many important things, especially in basic patient care, documentation, and everyday tasks. My language and communication skills improved significantly, and my self-confidence grew a lot as well. I now know how to communicate professionally with patients, supervisors, and colleagues, which has helped me greatly in my work.

I moved to Istria, Croatia, nine years ago to live with my boyfriend. It’s a bilingual region, and many words in the local dialect come from Italian. Since I didn’t speak any Italian at the time, it took me a while to understand them.

Recently, while on vacation with some extra free time, I remembered my long-time wish to learn Italian. I signed up for a Lingoda free trial, thinking it would just be a fun activity and that I probably wouldn’t continue afterward. But I was wrong. I’m still at the beginning of my Italian journey (A1), but I already understand more words and where they come from. And now I can speak un po’ di italiano with my boyfriend! It gives me a much stronger sense of belonging.
