How our subscriptions work

Lingoda offers great value for students. Not only are we often less expensive, per class, than offline schools, but you can pay monthly. Students can choose from subscription packages from 4 classes a month through to 30 classes depending on the language. This reflects the different levels of intensity required to boost or maintain your fluency. For example, four classes a month is ideal for someone who is already fluent and wants to practice and stay ‘language-fit’. It’s also great if you want to test online learning before committing to more intensive options.

At the other end of the scale, 30 classes a month immerses you in daily language learning, and is guaranteed to boost your fluency month on month.

All our packages follow a traditional subscription ‘roll-over’ model. In other words, you will automatically be assigned new lessons, at the same frequency, month on month. But you can cancel any time and we also offer a 7-day money back guarantee.

Value for money

Lingoda online classes offer outstanding value for money. Look at it this way. Our small group classes start at 8 euros a month. For that you get a one hour lesson, with a native-speaking qualified teacher. Classes are usually attended by an average of three other students. This means you get more opportunities to practice speaking and get direct feedback from the teacher.

A typical bricks and mortar classroom will start from 20 euros per hour, plus the class can contain as many as 20 students or more. Feedback is diluted, opportunities to speak with the teacher are limited. Plus you have to stick to the rigid timetable and waste time travelling to and from lessons.

What about apps? Well of course, apps are cheaper. But they rely entirely on technology. Lingoda combines the best of people *and* technology. In other words, all the benefits of learning with real teacher at a time and place that works best for you as long as you have wi-fi. For sure, apps can be a good revision aid for basic vocab. But you can’t compare them with face-to-face learning.

What price is right for you?

Lingoda classes vary in price starting from about 8 euros per lesson. Why the variation? There are two main reasons. Firstly, the more lessons ordered by students, the easier it is to plan teaching resources in advance and so reduce the cost per lesson. At the same time, we ensure that less frequent subscriptions are fairly and competitively priced, especially compared with ‘bricks and mortar’ classrooms.
Secondly, the cost of teachers can vary according to the language they teach. Again, where supply and demand results in higher teacher salaries, we do our best to minimise the impact on the cost per class. Inevitably, however, pricing variation occurs because we are committed to delivering quality as well as value to students.
Finally, our private lessons offer exceptional value for money. Especially when compared with the cost of a ‘traditional’ private language tutor where prices start at 30 euros an hour.
